The focus of the workshop was to exploring the most important aspects of current legislation,
and how this can inform our management and interaction with employees. Speakers will include
Rudelle Van Der Merwe (Occupational Hygienist, SafeNet Africa) and Lyndsey Swart
(Occupational Therapist, part-time private practice/lecturer, University of Pretoria).
The focus of the workshop was to explore accommodation, re-alignment and
placement of clients in the workplace with the implementation of
reasonable accommodations. The workshop gave a brief overview on the
management of client’s requiring reasonable accommodation from various
professionals. This involved legislative practices, case studies and an
interactive panel discussion on pertinent matters.

ERGONOMICS IN OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES. A worksop to discuss
and develop best practice guidelines for assessing and implementing ergonomics in occupational therapy,
in all spheres, for persons with disabilities. Various diagnostic groups were targeted.
WORK RELATED UPPER LIMB DISORDERS. A symposium with focus on work related upper limb disorders.
COGNITION IN THE WORKPLACE. A workshop held with experts in various fields linked to Cognition in the Workplace.
FITNESS TO WORK, with the emphasis on cardio capacity, fitness to work and work endurance.
FITNESS TO DRIVE ASSESSMENT, with guest speakers Dr Greg Kew and Lizette Swanepoel addressing
several aspects concerning legal issues and the assessment of vehicle drivers.
OTOH hosted a symposium on the latest legislative developments
in COID and the implications for rehabilitation.
This workshop is aimed at all Occupational Therapists who perform work assessments
and require knowledge on the intricacies of Job Analysis.
